Pattaya Hill is a very popular place in Pattaya as it offers a spectacular view of Pattaya beach and the city from the highest of the hill. The hill at the evening time is more popular than the afternoon time because of an opportunity to see sunset on the horizon. There is also a black statue of Jumborn Prince, the father of the Royal Thai army, where a number of people go to respect it every day. There is also the navy broadcasting station (FM 105.75 MHz). Another thing is that Khao Phra Bat Temple is situated there as well. The location of the hill is very near to the city, approximately 2 kilometers from South Pattaya.
Pattaya Hill is also known as Khao Phra Tamnuk. Visitors can see a panoramic view of the whole Pattaya Bay and city there. Visitors can also see the view by using binoculars provided but they need to pay 10 Baht per a few minutes. Visitors can visit there for both day and night time. However, the gate to visit the navy broadcasting station and the Jumborn Prince statue is closed at 21.00, but visitors can still enjoy the view at a scenic point provided outside of the gate.
One side of the hilltop is the location of the Jumborn Prince statue, while the other side is the location of Khao Phra Bat Temple. This temple is odd because there are no monks staying in the temple at all. There is only the place for respecting images of Buddha. The most well-known in the temple is the model of footprint of Buddha, which is established more than 200 years.
Those who visit Pattaya hill with a large vehicle, such as a tourist bus, need to park their vehicle at the foothill because there is no space to park this kind of vehicle on the hilltop. Then, visitors need to walk a little to visit a scenic view on the top.
At the day time, there are also small shops available on the hill to support visitors, including souvenir shop, so visitors do not need to worry about some drink or food at that time. But for the night time, there are no shops available at all.
The location of the Pattaya Hill is near the city, in between Pattaya City and Jomtien beach. It is therefore easy to visit. There are Songthaews taking visitors to the hill as well, so visitors can ask a Songthaew's driver if he will be going to the hill.
There is no charge of the entrance fee for visiting Pattaya Hill at all.
