Koh Man Nai is an interesting island in Rayong. Visitors can enjoy their trip with natural atmosphere, several beautiful beaches, and turtle conservation center. Those who love coral reefs also have a chance to see it around Naban Beach. This island is the largest island in the group of Koh Mun islands and is the second largest island in Rayong. It is also not far from the main land, only approximately 5 kilometers away, so it doesn't take much time to be impressive fresh air on the island.
According to royal idea of Queen Sirikit, in 1979, it was established for preserving sea turtles from extinction. The queen at that time gave this island, which at first was the private property of her own, to establish sea turtle preservation center under the navy’s care. In 2002, the queen also provided sea turtle breeders to the center. The name of the project after that changed to East Seashore Research Center.
Sea Turtle Preservation Center is situated on the northern of the island. There is a museum to exhibit information of sea turtle life. There are also different types of staffed turtles for visitors to see. Outdoor area is the breeding area and a place to sea real turtles. There are several ponds presented such as breeder pond, recovering pond, and ponds of turtles in different ages.
Koh Man Nai opens everyday from 8.30 AM to 4 PM, not allow for visitors to stay overnight. It can be another interesting day trip in Rayong. Thouse who would like to visit this island can rent a boat either from Laem Mae Phim Beach or from Ao Makhampom.
