Golden Buddha in Trimith Temple

Jan 25, 2013
Hey Jane,

I can’t wait to tell you my stories about to be a tour guide (again). This time, I took my tour group to two temples in Bangkok. They, my tour group, were from Nepal, 24 of them. Most of them looked similar to Thai, although some looked like Indian.

The first place that I took them to was The Temple of Golden Buddha near Chinatown. Although I had told them about the extraordinary story of the golden Buddha before getting there, when they saw Buddha image some of them asked me to repeat the story and information again and again. Certainly, they were surprised to see 5.5 tons in weight of solid gold Buddha image, which was built over 700 years ago. And it was also recorded by Guinness Book for the largest gold Buddha in the world. Can you imagine the price value of it? It was approximately worth US$ 21.1 million, in 1954. [Read More]

Dec 29, 2012

Hey Jane,

It’s been quite long I didn’t write to you.

Anyway, I’m here to tell you what happen with me. I just got back from Kanchanaburi again yesterday. For this time, I did not go there to visit my family, but I took a tour group there instead. Yeah! It was the first time for me to go solo with a group of tourists as a tour guide. From the program tour, I have to take them to The Bridge of River Kwai, having lunch near the bridge, and then take them to the Tiger Temple. I think I should skip to talk about Kanchanaburi before you sick of it, but I will tell you how the Tiger Temple was. I confess that it was the first time I get to know this Tiger Temple. Hey Jane,

Writing to you always make me happy.

Remember? I owe you stories about trip to Lawa Cave after getting out from Dean Maha Mongkol.

My sister and I decided to follow the sign to Lawa Cave even though we knew nothing about it. It was about 3 o’clock in the afternoon. We drove pass an elephant camp where tourists came to get on elephants for riding experience. I will take you here for sure. I want to hear your scream after sitting on an elephant. Haha…just kidding. [Read More]

Start Traveling in Kanchanaburi, Thailand

Nov 20th, 2012

Hey Jane,

When I start writing the letter about Kanchanaburi trip again, something pop up in my mind.

Do you remember Mill Valley? It is a lovely small town in Marin County which was my favorite place to hang out when I had a day off. You’d never come with me when I asked you to go hiking. You complained that after walking up to the hill the legs will be getting sore in the next day.

I haven’t understood until now. [Read More]

Hey Jane,

As I told you last time, I went to Kanchanaburi, my dad hometown. This city is not far from Bangkok. I could drive there just about 2 hours if we wouldn’t take it easy at gas station for getting snacks and a cup of coffee. You know, girls have never let their mouth empty.

This trip, I got a company, my sister. She took half day off on Thursday and full day off on Friday.  I spent almost an hour picked her up at the office and drove through the traffic in Bangkok and headed west to Kanchanaburi. [Read More]

Go Around Koh Larn Island with A Rented Motorcycle

Nov 15th, 2014

Hey Jane,

Finally, I have time to sit and continue my stories to Koh Larn.

Last time, I started to tell you about the beaches around the island. Let’s me drop that scene a moment because I forgot to tell you how I got around the island after I checked in a small resort. I rented the motorcycle. It was so cheap to pay 250 Baht (about $8 per one day and a half) with full tank gas. This was a fun part that you would love it. I hope you still remember how to ride motorcycle as you did in Cambodia. Motorcycles that I mention here are not a big bike as you seen in San Francisco, but smaller as scooters. You just speed up at the handle, no need gears. Very easy. If you come to Thailand, you will see that motorcycles and scooters have been used all over the country. I wasn’t only ride the scooter to check all beaches, but I also went to the view point on the top of the hill. It was beautiful. A panoramic view of the green hill, beaches and blurry background of Pattaya city made me think of San Francisco again.

In a sunshine day, there are many activities around the island, for instance, riding a boat or offshore snorkeling. There are many one-day trip touring around here. It was pretty busy everywhere. [Read More]

Koh Larn - A Popular Island Near Bangkok

Hat Tawaen at Koh Larn Pattaya

Nov 7th, 2012.

Hey Jane,

I was thinking, if you come to see me in Thailand I will take you to Koh Larn. Why Koh Larn? You can ask your brother about it, I think this name remind him a lot about Thailand when he was here.

A couple week ago, I went there. It was my first time to go to this well-known island. I heard people had been talking about it since I was young, but I didn’t care about because I thought it, nowadays, might not be as beautiful anymore.

If you were Thai, you would think of anywhere else when you wanted to go to a beautiful beach or island, not here in Pattaya. So, I try thinking out of the box and make myself like a tourist to find out why there are so many tourists in Pattaya [Read More]
