According to the official information of Pattaya Count Down 2o12 (Thai language), The festival of Pattaya Countdown 2012 is presented at Bali Hai Area from 25 Dec – 31 Dec 2011. The festival is organized by Redcap Organizer and GMM Grammy by following the concept of making Pattaya as the most impressive new year festival in Thailand.  There are a few famous Thai music bands performing on the stage at the Bali Hai everyday from 25 – 31 Dec. Pattaya is a major place in Chonburi, Thailand, where lots of people will go to participate Loy Krathong Festival. But this year will be many more people in Pattaya because Bangkok is facing the problem of flooding, so many people from the capital city of Thailand will join in the festival definitely. Though it might be a problem of traffic jam tonight.

In general, at night of 10th November 2011, people will go to Pattaya Beach for floating their Krathong, and becaue of that, there will be food and products from street stalls available beside the beach. But there are the other two options for those who would like to go somewhere different. The first one is Pattaya Floating Market, which is also offer the opportunity for visitors to enjoy the festival there, and the other one is Mabphrachan Resevoir, which could be more quieter as not many people know how to go there, but if you like to know, see the Map of Mabprachan Resevoir.

Formal Activities

Pattaya Council have set up Loy Krathong Festival Contest 2011 (10th November) at Naklua Public Park. The purpose of the contest is for preserving traditions and cultures of Thailand and promoting Pattaya City towards travelers as well. Not only the contest will have competition of natural-handmade Krathong, but there will also be traditional shows and Thai classical music to impress visitors.

There are two types of the competition:

The first one is the beauty of Krathong. There are 3 levels of this competition, primary school, junior high school, and general, where this is a group competition (3-4 people in a team).

The Festival of Colours of The EAST comes back again. It has been the 2^nd time of this activity already; the first one was in 2010. The festival is supported by Chonburi Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, and this festival offers a variety of products, services, and special package tours of 4 major provinces, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trad. As this period is a raining season, it is a low season. The festival is therefore established in order to encourage more visitors to travel east of Thailand, especially Pattaya. And if you are looking for traveling around the east of Thailand, you should not miss it.

Festival of Colours of The EAST 2011

The Festival of Colours of the EAST 2011 starts from 7 July until 10 July (14.00 – 23.00), and its concept is “Food, Fun, and Fest”. For the “Food”, visitors will be able to choose a variety of food from different places from the East of Thailand. There is also a Beach Buffet Zone to satisfy those who love seafood.  In the case of the “Fun” word, there are a lot of small activities and games inside, including several concerts, and colorful design of shops as well as location.  These will encourage visitors to enjoy the festival more. Finally, “Fest” or “Festival” represents a great opportunity to find special tourist packages for many attractive places of East of Thailand, including special room rates from a number of hotels.

In summary, there are more than 200 tourist agencies in the Festival of Colours of the EAST 2011. There are also a great number of products, including OTOP, from Chonburi, Rayong Chanthanaburi, and Trad. Definitely, the products will be offered in special prices as well. Apart from that, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of food. The location of this Festival of Colours of the EAST 2011 is at Pattaya Beach Road as usual.

Well, approximately in the middle of this month, 13 – 15th  April, there are Songkran Festivals all over Thailand. However, for Pattaya city, there are other 2 days, 18th and 19th on April, for the festival, called  “Wan Lai” or extended Songkran Festival days. The peak day will be on 19th,  if you can choose just a day to join the festival, choose that day.

In general, for this festival,  participants mainly throw water to one another, and paste power to other faces. Some people will come with pick ups containing a barrel with full of water, while some will have the barrel or a bucket with water on the ground in order to throw the water to whoever going through the way.  The busy place is beach road and the Pattaya 2nd Road, so if you want to join, you need to prepare your equipment for sending the water to your target, and some powder (it is also able to buy in almost any where in the festival though). However, if you do not want to participate the festival, avoid going through these streets because it is very traffic jam.

There is announcement from the council of Pattaya city that, at 12.oo , there will be caravan containing image Buddhisms or monks for people to pure the water to. You might have heard about Pattaya International Livestock Show 2011. Although the show in fact has been open since 21st March 2011, the main days for the shows are from March 25th to 27th.

As I would like to see how it look like, I then went there with my friends, and definitely we also have some pictures to present to you. In general, there are rare animals in the shows, where you might ask what they are because I did it twice. You could try getting there once, you would understand why I asked what that was twice! Apart from that, animal competitions are also performed inside this event.  There are 2 main parts of the show – outdoor and indoor, and almost everything used for cow farms are also available in outdoor shops.

However,  at the time we were at the show, there were not a lot of visitors. It could be because people did not know much about the event or did not know where it is. I should tell you here that it is located at Eartern National Sport Center though.

As said above, hardly seen animals are presented inside the show, such as birds, horses, fish, cows, goats, and so on. Unfortunately, one of my friend expected to see dogs in the show, but it was not. As you know this before going there, don’t be frustrate if you could not see it. [Read More]

It is very coming soon, again, the major musical festival in Pattaya, called “PATTAYA INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2011”. There will be famous musical bands and also differently musical style from both Thailand and overseas. The performing dates of this music festival are from 18th March to 20th March. However, there is still no official announcement of how many bands participating in and how many stages will be provided.

However, because the music festival will definitely attract a large number of both local and foreign visitors, the Pattaya city will be a bit traffic jam, and it will be a bit difficult for any visitors to find a car park.
